I was thrilled to be invited onto the lovely K Anderson’s ‘Lost Spaces’ podcast! I had such a great time chatting to him and reminiscing about my early days as a little queerling in pre-smartphone Nottingham in the ‘90s; coming out; having muchos fun with boys; trauma, joy, identity, isolation and everything in-between…as well as one of Nottingham’s long-since “lost” gay bars, The Mill!

Its full title is “Lost Spaces: Memories from Gay Bars, Lesbian Clubs and LGBTQ+ Parties”, and across 200+ eps & interviews so far, K’s been on a beautiful mission to create the biggest online record of people’s memories and stories of lost queer spaces & LGBTQ+ venues through the decades. With an increasing number of beloved, historically-important queer venues closing their doors every year, K’s interviews help keep their rich cultural histories alive - while also acting as a springboard for wider conversations about queer history and identity.

It was such an honour to have been the very first guest on Dan Hall’s Queer Music podcast “In The Key Of Q”!

We discussed my career to date and some of the stories and inspirations behind my songs, as well as growing up gay in Nottingham in the ‘90s, institutional homophobia, bullying, sex, the loss of my first boyfriend, queer culture’s obsession with youth and the music industry’s insistence that I silence the queer messaging in my music, plus a whole bunch more.
